You’ve posted your listing, but searching for it turns up nothing. Before you assume something’s broken, there are a few straightforward reasons why a newly posted ad might not appear in results — and most of them are easy to fix.
Common Reasons Your Ad Isn’t Showing
- Pending review: New listings go through a brief moderation check, usually completed within 1–2 hours. This is normal.
- Listed in the wrong category: If your item is miscategorized, it won’t appear in relevant searches. Double-check the category you selected.
- Missing keywords in your title or description: Search results are based on your listing text. Use words buyers would actually search for.
- Ad posted as draft: Check your listings dashboard to confirm it was published, not saved as a draft.
- Ad paused or expired: Listings have an active period. If yours expired, you’ll need to renew it from your dashboard.
- Filters hiding your result: Try searching with fewer filters applied — price range, location, or condition filters may be excluding your listing.
- Indexing delay: Even after publishing, new ads can take up to 2 hours to appear across all search results.
How to Make Your Ad More Visible
1
Use specific, searchable keywords in your title
Instead of “Phone for sale,” write “Samsung Galaxy A55 128GB Black — Excellent Condition.” Buyers search exact terms.
2
Verify the correct category and subcategory
Navigate to your listing and confirm it’s placed under the most relevant category for buyers browsing that section.
3
Set a competitive price
Listings priced far above market value are deprioritised in some search sort orders. Check similar listings for guidance.
4
Add high-quality photos
Listings with clear, original photos consistently rank better in search results than those with no or low-quality images.
5
Wait and check again after 2 hours
If the ad was just posted, give it a couple of hours to fully index before concluding something is wrong.
